# How to Change Domain Nameservers

Change nameservers when you need a domain to use a different DNS provider or hosting platform.

## Change in the Billing Portal

1. Log in to your Vertico account.
2. Open Domains and select the domain.
3. Choose Nameservers or Manage DNS.
4. Enter the complete primary and secondary nameserver hostnames.
5. Save the changes.

## After Saving

Nameserver changes require propagation. During this period, different users may reach different DNS providers.

## Common Mistakes

- Typing an IP address instead of a nameserver hostname.
- Leaving one nameserver blank.
- Using nameservers that do not have a zone for the domain.
- Deleting email records during a hosting move.
