# How to Create an Email Forwarder

A forwarder sends mail addressed to one account or alias to another email address.

## Create in DirectAdmin

1. Log in to DirectAdmin.
2. Open E-mail Manager.
3. Choose Forwarders.
4. Select Create E-mail Forwarder.
5. Enter the source address and destination.
6. Save and send a test message.

## Forwarder vs Mailbox

A forwarder does not always store a local copy. Create a mailbox as well if messages must remain available on the hosting server.

## Deliverability Note

 **Important:** Forwarding can interact with sender authentication. For important business mail, consider collecting mail directly by IMAP instead of forwarding through multiple providers.
