# How to Diagnose a Database Connection Problem

Applications fail to connect when credentials, server access, database status or configuration is wrong.

## Check

1. Confirm the database exists.
2. Verify database name and username exactly.
3. Test the password.
4. Confirm the database host.
5. Check user privileges.
6. Review recent password or server changes.
7. Check whether the database service and storage are healthy.
8. Read the application error log.

## Secure Support

When requesting help, hide passwords and provide only the database name, username, error and time.

## Need Help?

If you still need assistance, open a support ticket through your Vertico client account and include the affected domain or email address, a screenshot of the error, and the approximate time the problem occurred. Never send passwords by email or support ticket.
