# How to Enable and Configure Spam Protection

Spam protection helps identify unwanted or dangerous email before it reaches the inbox.

## Enable SpamAssassin

1. Log in to DirectAdmin.
2. Open E-mail Manager.
3. Select SpamAssassin Setup.
4. Enable spam filtering.
5. Choose a moderate score or sensitivity.
6. Decide whether spam should be tagged, moved or deleted.
7. Save the settings.

## Recommended Starting Point

Start with tagging or moving spam rather than deleting it. Review results for several days before using automatic deletion.

## Improve Results

- Report recurring spam patterns.
- Use blocklists carefully.
- Keep business contacts in an address book.
- Do not publish important addresses unnecessarily.
