# How to Manage DNS Records

DNS records connect a domain to websites, email providers and verification services.

## Common Record Types

- A: points a hostname to an IPv4 address.
- AAAA: points to an IPv6 address.
- CNAME: aliases one hostname to another.
- MX: directs incoming email.
- TXT: stores verification, SPF and other text values.
- SRV: defines a service location and port.

## Safe Editing Process

1. Record the existing value.
2. Confirm the exact hostname, type and target required.
3. Change only the necessary record.
4. Use a sensible TTL.
5. Test the service after propagation.

## Email Warning

**Important:** Changing MX, SPF, DKIM or DMARC records without understanding them can stop email or reduce deliverability.

## Need Help?

If you still need assistance, open a support ticket through your Vertico client account and include the affected domain or email address, a screenshot of the error, and the approximate time the problem occurred. Never send passwords by email or support ticket.
