# How to Manage Email Storage and Quotas

Mailbox quotas prevent one account from consuming all available hosting storage.

## Check Usage

1. Log in to DirectAdmin.
2. Open E-mail Accounts.
3. Review used storage and quota for each mailbox.
4. Increase a quota only when the hosting package has sufficient free space.

## Reduce Usage

- Delete large unnecessary attachments.
- Empty Trash and Junk folders.
- Archive old mail locally where appropriate.
- Remove duplicated Sent messages.
- Use IMAP carefully when multiple devices retain all mail.

## Before Deleting

 **Important:** Create a backup or export important business messages before permanently removing them.
