# How to Secure a Business Email Account

Business email is a common target for fraud, password theft and impersonation.

## Security Checklist

- Use a unique strong password.
- Change default or shared passwords immediately.
- Do not approve unexpected login prompts.
- Check forwarding rules after a suspected compromise.
- Keep devices and email applications updated.
- Verify payment-detail changes by another trusted channel.
- Train staff to identify phishing.

## After Suspected Compromise

1. Change the password.
2. Sign out other sessions where possible.
3. Remove unknown forwarders and filters.
4. Scan connected devices for malware.
5. Inform affected contacts if fraudulent messages were sent.
6. Open a support ticket with relevant details.
