# How to Set Up Email in Outlook for Windows

Configure a Vertico-hosted mailbox in Outlook using the full email address and the incoming and outgoing server settings supplied with your service.

## Before Setup

- Confirm the mailbox works in webmail.
- Know the full email address and password.
- Have the incoming and outgoing server hostnames.
- Use the recommended secure ports.

## Setup Steps

1. Open Outlook and choose Add Account.
2. Enter the full email address.
3. Choose IMAP for synchronised multi-device use.
4. Enter the incoming and outgoing server details.
5. Enable authentication for outgoing mail.
6. Enter the full email address as the username.
7. Complete setup and send a test message.

## Recommended Protocol

IMAP keeps messages on the server and synchronises folders across devices. POP downloads messages and is less suitable for most modern multi-device use.
