# What Happens When a Domain Expires?

Domain expiry can interrupt websites, email and other services connected to the name.

## Typical Expiry Stages

- Expiry date: the registration term ends.
- Grace period: renewal may still be possible at the normal rate for some extensions.
- Redemption or restoration: recovery may require an additional fee.
- Deletion: the domain may become available to another person.

## Service Impact

DNS may stop working, which can make the website unavailable and prevent email delivery.

## Best Prevention

- Keep contact details current.
- Pay renewal invoices early.
- Monitor renewal notices.
- Use a reliable primary email not hosted only on the expiring domain.

## Need Help?

If you still need assistance, open a support ticket through your Vertico client account and include the affected domain or email address, a screenshot of the error, and the approximate time the problem occurred. Never send passwords by email or support ticket.
