# What Is a Domain Name?

A domain name is the human-readable address used to reach a website or online service.

## Parts of a Domain

In example.co.zw, 'example' is the chosen name and '.co.zw' is the extension.

## Why It Matters

- Creates a memorable business identity.
- Supports professional email.
- Can strengthen local or international positioning.
- Remains separate from the website design and hosting.

## Ownership

Keep registrant information in the legal owner's name and retain control of the account used to manage it.

## Need Help?

If you still need assistance, open a support ticket through your Vertico client account and include the affected domain or email address, a screenshot of the error, and the approximate time the problem occurred. Never send passwords by email or support ticket.
