# What Is Web Hosting?

Web hosting is the server service that stores website files and makes them available on the internet.

## What Hosting Provides

- Storage for website files.
- Server software that delivers pages.
- Databases for dynamic applications.
- Email services on many plans.
- SSL, logs, backups and control-panel tools depending on the package.

## Domain vs Hosting

A domain is the address people type, while hosting is the service that stores and runs the website.

## Choosing a Plan

Consider website type, storage, email needs, expected traffic, application requirements, support and growth.

## Need Help?

If you still need assistance, open a support ticket through your Vertico client account and include the affected domain or email address, a screenshot of the error, and the approximate time the problem occurred. Never send passwords by email or support ticket.
