A WordPress migration includes files, database, configuration, DNS and SSL.
Migration Steps #
- Back up the original site.
- Create the destination domain and database.
- Upload WordPress files.
- Import the database.
- Update database credentials in wp-config.php.
- Replace old URLs when the domain changes.
- Test using a temporary method before DNS cutover.
- Point DNS to Vertico.
- Issue SSL and test forms, email and redirects.
Keep the Old Hosting #
Important: Do not cancel the old service until the migrated site has been tested and DNS propagation is complete.
